Did you ever think what could have been? If Maul had just pushed Master Jinn's saber into the pit, so Kenobi would not have it to surprise him with.
With no Obi-wan, there would be no one to insist on training Anakin. There would be no Skywalker legacy (least not as a Jedi, maybe as a pilot), and Maul would retain his place beside the Emperor as the Death Star rose with no Jedi to protect the rebellion. I like this a lot better then robo-chicken legs, hissing demon maul that is his now cannon fate. It just makes no sense to me that he would have chicken feet, and never wear his robes again. It's not what Maul would have done, it's what a fan of maul's demonic image has done with him. He was NOT a demon, he was a Zabrak, born with the horns and red skin tone, it didn't instinctively make him evil. Sidiuos' conditioning made him the sith we know, and his tattoos show his utmost devotion to his master, and his mission. The Chicken legs are goofy attempt to make him resemble a demon, they make him look "bad-ass" in still shots but are in no way practical to his fighting style. Even if it wasn't his choice originally, I think if he had survived he would be developing proper legs ASAP, and his first mission would be to dispatch the Jedi that cut him down, then destroy Dooku to take back his place with Sidious. The prequels just could have been so much more epic if they hadn't written him off so soon..
*also Motti probably would not have survived taunting Lord Maul.
